                                                                        Losing A Loved One

Picture

The experience of losing someone we love can be unbearable. The pain can sometimes feel like we cannot make it through another second. You think how you will ever go through the rest of your life without that person being a part of it. You remember all of the good times you shared with that person. It's funny how you begin to remember things that person said or did that you really didn't pay much attention to when they were alive. When my mother died the thing that caused me the most grief was the smell of her clothes. I could still smell her unique smell in all of her clothes. When you drive around town, it seems every corner brings back a memory of a time you spent with that person. Losing someone you love is the most heart wrenching thing you can ever experience. It sort of seems like time stands still, and the most difficult thing in the world is willing yourself to move forward.  Everyday without that person brings the pain back stronger and more intense. Friends and family will try to lift your spirits, but nothing seems to help. The things you once enjoyed in your life, now do not seem to interest you anymore. You spend your days going through the motions just to get through each day. There is no easy way to deal with the death of a loved one, and you can't explain the feeling unless you have gone through it yourself.

                                                               Time to Move on

There will come a day soon in your life when you realize that today is the day that I must move on. I thought of all of the things I had not yet accomplished in my life. I thought of the rest of my family that needed me more than ever to be a whole person. I realized that it was important for me to show my friends and family my inner strength. I needed to prove to my lost loved one that I will go on and make a difference in this world, no matter how small a difference. I thought of all of the places I had not traveled. When I sat back and thought of all of the positive things I could do with the rest of my life, it gave me the strength to get up and get moving with the rest of my life. I heard a song by Patti Labelle called "Love Never Dies" when I was going through my grief, I swear that song lifted me up and got me on feet again. I have not stopped since. There are so many reasons we have to move on when our loved ones die. For one thing, you know that's what they would want you to do, and for another reason. you must start working on the legacy you want to leave. You might want to start a bucket list and start trying to fulfill all of the things on your bucket list. Just remember that although we lost our loved ones, they can forever live on in us by sharing their stories and their lives with others so that they are never forgotten. SO GET UP AND GET MOVING. THE CLOCK IS TICKING.
