Indoor Plants Can Add Beauty to Your Home

I have never been successful with growing indoor plants. Every time I bought a plant, I either overwatered or underwatered. I just figured I just didn't have a green thumb. About a year ago, I decided to try it again. I don't get a lot of direct sunlight so I had to choose plants that needed low light. I thought that the low light plants would not be as pretty as those plants that need direct sunlight, but I took my time and found these plants. I think plants add a certain personal touch to your living environment. Adding indoor plants to my home has now become another hobby for me. They are a challenge for me. I was determined to grow some healthy plants, and I am so proud of how well they are doing. I would love to get a few more, but for right now, I am doing my best with these. These plants are also not a lot of work, but you do have to spend a little time caring for them. Some plants need more care than others, but it is so worth it for the beauty it adds to you home.

Lemon Lime Prayer Plant
I got this Prayer plant from my best friend as a birthday gift. This plant is so pretty and it is growing so nicely. This is the plant that needs extra attention. I found out that it doesn't need a lot of water. I water it when I see the top of the soil is getting dry. I only use distilled water to water this plant, and when I water it, I make sure there is no excess water in the drip pan after I water it. I understand that if you leave excess water in the drip pan, the roots could get rotted. This plant also does not need a lot of sunlight. I keep it by the window, but not directly in front of the window and it seems to like that. This plant also likes a humid environment. It doesn't like to be near air conditioning vents, so you have to place this plant in just the right spot. Some suggested placing them in a bathroom, and that could work if you have a window in your bathroom that it can get some indirect sunlight. This plant has been a challenge for me, but it seems to be flourishing just fine.

Golden Pothos Plant
This was the first plant I bought over a year ago. When I bought it, just the top had leaves, but now you can see how much it has grown. This plant is very low maintenance. It only gets indirect sunlight, and I water it once or twice a week. I check the soil and make sure it is moist, and if it seems to be getting dry, I water it. When watering this plant I don't soak the roots in the drip pan. I water the soil all the way through, but then I drain the excess water. This plant gives great rewards with very little work. It is very easy to take care of.

This plant I bought by accident. I loved the pretty leaves so I just bought it without reading the plant instructions. After I got it home, I realized that this was a "wick and grow" plant. I had never heard of wick and grow plants, but I decided to see how it goes. You basically just keep water in the bottom of the pot, and place the plant back in the pot with the wick in the water at the bottom. The wick will get water to the root of the plants. So it's very convenient if you have to go away and not have to worry about watering it. This plant has also done well with indirect sunlight. It's very self-sufficient as long as you make sure to keep water at the bottom of the pot. This pot came with a see through window so you can monitor when you need to add water to the bottom of the pot. This plant does not like air conditioning vents blowing on it. I learned that from making that mistake. I guess it's doing alright because I've had it for awhile and it's still growing. The only problem I have with this plant is I was sometimes getting brown tips on the end of the leaves, but that has gotten much better lately. This is as easy as you can get as far as plants are concerned. So I would definitely recommend a wick and grow plant if you don't have a lot of time to care for plants.
I would love to hear from you about your plants, and give me some suggestions on the next plant I should buy.
