                                                                                  Easy Baked Ziti

Picture
This is an easy baked ziti recipe. If you are busy and don't have time to spend hours in the kitchen making a good meal, this recipe is great for you. I make this for my family often, and if there are leftovers, I freeze it to have at a later date.

Ingredients:

1 lb of ground beef
Ring of beef sausage sliced (optional) - you can substitute the sausage of your choice
Ziti noodles or Penne Pasta
1 tablespoon of oil or spray
24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce
15 oz tub of Ricotta cheese
8 oz bag of shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 pepper - Green, yellow or red, I sometimes use a combination
1 tablespoon Onion powder
1 tablespoon of Garlic powder
2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon of minced garlic
Black pepper and salt - sprinkle to your taste

Use a sizeable baking dish, and spray oil or spread oil on the baking dish to avoid sticking. Get a frying pan and add the ground beef, sausage, onions, peppers, garlic, and cook until ground beef and sausage is cooked thoroughly and everything is tender. Then drain the excess grease. Add the pasta sauce and seasonings to the ground beef and sausage mixture, and cook on low for about 10 minutes or so. This will give you time to boil the pasta. Boil the pasta until tender, then drain in a colander. Spread a little of the sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Then spoon and spread a layer of pasta. You will do a few layers so just spread enough pasta to cover the bottom of the pan. Then use a large spoon or ladle to spread a layer of sauce over the pasta. Then use a teaspoon to drop the ricotta cheese over the sauce. Then sprinkle some mozzarella cheese over the ricotta. Repeat this process until you have sauce on top. Then sprinkle the mozzarella on top. Bake in the oven on 350 degrees until the cheese is melted and slightly browned. Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes, and then it will be ready to serve.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and share with family and friends.
